First Foundations Preschool Fall Festival

Wow what a morning! As one of the room mom's to Max's preschool class, I had to help put on their fall festival this morning. We had a bean bag toss, hay dig for treasures, pumpking decorating, cookie decorating and tatoos! Max and his little friend Payton (her mom is the other room mom) took the liberty of hiding all the little pumpkins in the playground so when it was time to decorate them they kids had to search for them. So much fun watching both Payton and Max (who are the bossiest kids in the class I might add) tell them where to find a pumpkin. The little boy next to Max on the playground is Carter who apparently is his little buddy. And they really do follow each other around. Very fun to watch.

Sadly, we had a meltdown right at class picture time and yes, my lovely little boy flat out REFUSED to be in the group picture to which we ended up in a time out for yelling at me and being ugly. However, he apologized and got right back in the groove just in time for cookies -- but he is the only kid not pictured with his class. :(

When it was time for the cookie decorating, the room smelled of nothing but sugar. The kids had a great time dumping icing, sprinkles, candy corn, chocolate chips all over their cookies. Surprisingly, not one of them started eating any of it until they asked. Huh????? In what world does that normally happen??? Kudos to Mrs. Fionda!

Great time this morning. He's wiped out and so is mommy!

Strep Bug

Poor baby...had to come home early from school today with 102 fever. Took him in and it's strep. He's pitiful.

Eggcellent

The letter of the week is "E". Mrs. Fionda suggested we utilize an egg to help us with the letter. We usually send a picture of something that starts with that letter but this week we are doing it a bit differently. Max had a great time shaking the uncooked egg, dropping it in the water and very impatiently waited while it cooked and cooled. He likes to help me crack eggs into batter while I'm cooking anyway. Less than 10 seconds after I said we could play with the hard boiled egg, he had the shell off, squished the white part and the yellow part was in his mouth. We did our homework!

Pumpkin Painting

I hosted my MOPS group today for our off-week activity. It was gorgeous outside! We started at 11:00 this morning and my last mom and her 2 kids just left at 5! It was a great day, the kids were filthy with paint, dirt, playdough, park mud. The giggles never stopped today. No fights, no drama and very few tears even though they were exhausted! I just gave Max a bath and there is a ring of dirt in the tub and literally the water was almost black.

Triathalon

We went to Cypress, Texas this weekend for Todd's triathalon. We all 3 woke up at 4:45 a.m. this morning to go with Todd out to the starting line. Max gave him super fun hugs to get him started and then half-way through the bike portion decided we needed to make a sign. Max was whiney but was a trooper and managed to make it through to the end. It was very chilly and I was very thankful I wasn't the one doing the swimming (heated pool or not). Todd finished in about 1 hour and 25 minutes. Great job daddy!

Furniture mover

Max's entertainment nowadays is to rearrange our living room. Usually I can't find the camera fast enough but today I caught him taking a break.

Creepy Lab

I'm always on the lookout for late afternoon activities for the 'witching hour' of being a stay-at-home mommy. I found some fun little projects at Target. This one was gummy worms, spiders and frogs in a petrie dish filled with Jello. He had soooo much fun playing with this gooey stuff.

Sad Dog...Happy Dog...

Last week's letter of the week was "D". When I got to Max's school, he was wearing his dog ears. Last night he put them on upside down and said "Mama, I'm a sad doggie but watch this..." (then he flipped them up and said) "but now I'm a happy doggie".

He's having a good time at school. We've had a couple of little bumps here and there but overall I think he's getting the hang of it.
