Fall Festival

Last Friday was Max's Fall Festival at his school. They made pumpkin hats, pumpkin necklaces and painted pumpkins (Max's ended up being a ball of glitter...sigh). I made the kids pumpkin cake pops for their treat. I was also able to see Max as the line leader (or special helper of the day) which means he got to lead the small circle time (led a song, described the weather and what day of the week it was, reviewed the months of the year). I now understand why he asks me everyday, "What day is it mama?" This year he is friends with a little boy named Niam. He is pictured with him.

Flag Football

We signed up for flag football again this fall. Max is on the Green Bay Packers (much to Todd's dismay). Today was our first game. His coach isn't there as his wife just had a baby this week but the fill in coaches did great. We tied the game today. Max is getting there but still quite slow. He does great hiking the ball and loves saying "hut".

First Day of School

Well, the new preschool year has begun! Max did great this morning. He put away his stuff and hit the ground running. He got 5 "bug clips" (starts the day with 3, can lose them or get more) so he earned some Wii time this afternoon. He's a tired little cookie today. He made a new friend even named Colin today.

The Bug Class - Open House

I can't believe my child was assigned the BUG class. For those of you really close to me, will understand why this is painful. I am trying to not pass on my phobia to him.

His teacher this year is Mrs. Smith - who happens to be a friend of mine and one of my Jazzercise students. I'm very thankful she turned out to be his teacher. I know her, love and trust her. I was nervous as Mrs. Fionda from last year was awesome and wasn't sure who could fill those shoes but Mrs. Smith is going to do just fine. I think Max is a little apprehensive this year. He thought he was going to have some of his old friends in class but we didn't have a single one. That's okay - we are up for new friends! Yes - I signed up for room mom again...I'm crazy!

Day at the Beach

We spent a few days in Padre Island with another mom friend of mine, Corey, and her two kids - Payton & Camden. It was great! The kids got a long great and Max just loves the beach (he did not inherit this from Todd!!) so I guess I'm the beach parent from here on out.

Vacation Bible School

My friend Corey got me to "volunteer" (teehee) to help with Vacation Bible School this summer at Riverbend Church. This was by far the biggest VBS I have ever been involved with. Over 1,500 kids so it was enormous. I was roped in to helping with recreation (which was all outside I might add - thank you Corey....) It turned out to not be that misreably hot and we were in the shade for a lot of it.

Max had a great time. Each day was a differen theme. Crazy hair day, inside out day, crazy sock day...here are a couple of pictures...

I know...I know....

Yes, it's been since May since I last posted on here. It's been quite a busy, crazy summer. I'm going to make an effort to post a few things to get us all caught up from the summer and then I'll post today's Open House pictures at school. I feel way behind...

We spent a lot of our summer at Jazzercise. There was a huge gap in instructors this summer due to resignations, illness, injury, etc. so in 3 months, I've taught over 90classes. Max spent an hour each day in the babysitter room (sometimes 2 hours a day) but he loves it because every hour there are a new crop of kids and friends to play with.

When we weren't at Jazzercise we were either in our swimming pool (sometimes with friends, sometimes without), we were shuffling to the library for story time or going to the Austin Children's Museum. We spent time with some of our MOPS friends (Payton & Camden)and had a couple of playdates with Brady from school last year. We ended the summer taking a quick 2 day trip to the coast with Payton & Camden. We did a week worth of vacation bible school, went to Sea World with grandma Markay and Max spent several weekends with grandparents. It was a fast and crazy summer but I think we had a good time.

I'll start with a few pics from playtime with Payton & Camden.

Picnic & Ice Cream

Yesterday I helped my friend Corey out by keeping her two kiddos Peyton and Camden for a few hours. We loaded up the wagon and our lunches and headed to the park. We had a nice picnic where the kids thought it would be super fun to show me their food every few minutes and then Corey gave them all ice cream money so I took them for some ice cream. We got pushed out of the park from a small rain shower and 6 bus loads of kids from a local school but they had fun. We ended the day in a water hose fight (no pictures...) :(

Playdate with Brady

Brady, Max's friend from school, came over on Tuesday this week so his mama could go to her doctor's appointment. The boys played so well together. They dressed up like Spiderman and Batman and Buzz Lightyear and had a snowball fight using a bag of cotton balls they found. Then they put nets on their heads and pretended to be "super villans". They then made forts to watch a movie in and eventually ended up swimming. Max was so tired after Brady went home that in th grocery store, he fell asleep in the cart.

A Walk To Wendy's

This week they are studying the letter "W". Mrs. Fionda took all the kids on a Walk to Wendy's which is right across the street. The other room mom and I showed up early, had the tables all set up and their food laid out. Here are a couple of pictures of his friends - Ryder, Brady, Tili and Payton.

Easter Weekend

Max woke up late on Sunday and put on his Batman cape and grabbed his Easter basket and away we went searching for those eggs. He gets distracted very easily by what's inside each egg but after about 20 minutes, he found them all.

Easter Party

Today was Max's Easter Party at school. The parents hid all the eggs in the schoolyard, the kids each hunted for 12 eggs and then we all got to eat a picnic lunch outside on the playground. Then we headed inside for an Easter craft and cupcake decorating. They kids had a great afternoon. Max is bouncing off the walls at the moment but it was a lot of fun this morning.
